Musical beads - Raaja Magic

Creating anything is an achievement in its own virtue.

Creating something which survives the test of time is a Super achievement.

The moment you hear that violin note in the beginning of poo maalaiyea thol searava or the Strumming of the Guitar of En iniya pon nilavey, there comes a realization of an age that has gone past in our life. It is this feeling that a composer gives which soothes the senses and gets you into a joyride of memories.

Ilayaraaja is a composer who has given me those goose pimples a zillion times - time and again.

On reading a line in a lyric - Naadham en jeevaney va va en devanay... Reading that single line does convey the meaning but not the feeling there... It is the feel that the composer provides through his notes and the delivery of S. Janaki that creates the magic. Raaja induces the feel (yeakkam) in those words through his notes... Followed by a even more scintillating violin trailing S Janaki's voice.... every line that follows induces a simply superb flow of emotions.... Ohhhh Listen to the way each stanza ends... Thats Raaja for you in one song....

That was just one musical bead in his endless string of melodies. And to me it is that simplicity which is missing in today's music that we hear.

In that note ... I complete this blog saying... Raagadeven Rocks Forever....
